Kheir is the transliteration of the Arabic word خير, meaning goodness or wellness, and it’s a staple in many Arabic idioms. My favorite way to use it is what I found most confusing as a kid: “حصل خير” (Hasal Kheir) which is to say “goodness happened”, commonly used when something decidedly bad happens. It’s a testament to human resilience, this belief that nothing is unrecoverable. No matter how bleak something seems, you can trust that there is a path through it. That duress is not your destination; it’s an opportunity to understand yourself and your needs with more wholeness.
How long have you been waiting to feel understood?
Sometimes what you need most is to talk to someone who gets it. Someone who understands how joyful, complicated, connecting, isolating, and enriching it can feel to be queer and trans in today’s world, all at the same time. Someone who understands how this already complex experience compounds with being a person of color in today’s tumultuous climate. Someone who can accompany you on the journey to self-understanding and healing without the emotional labor of explaining your existence. The space you have been looking for to be your full self is waiting for you at Kheir Counseling.
